Men’s Basketball Continues Conference Play Traveling to Bowie State Thursday, then Lincoln (Pa) Saturday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team continues conference play hitting the road against Bowie State on Thursday, December 14th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
The Rams will then head up to Lincoln (PA) facing off with Lincoln University (PA) on Saturday, December 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Series Information vs. Bowie State University
Since 2011 the series is currently tied 7-7 between the Rams and Bulldogs. The Rams are currently on a two-game winning streak against the Bulldogs. The Rams defeated the Bulldogs last season 75-62 on December 19th. 
 
Series Information vs. Lincoln University (Pa)
Since 2011 the Rams have led the series 9-6 versus the Lions. Last season the Rams defeated the Lions in the CIAA Championship game 62-57 on February 25th, 2023. 
 
Last Time Out
The Rams defeated Clarion University in overtime 71-67 on Sunday, December 10th. Jaylen Alston led the Rams with a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds, and Imajae Dodd scored 19 points with nine rebounds. Jeremy Dixon had nine points going 3-of-6 from the three-point line.
 
Rams Returners:
The Rams brought back seven returners from last year's team, sophomores Jeremy Dixon, Ketron "KC Shaw, juniors Ralph Bland, Stefon McLead, Isaac Parson, senior Jaylen Alston, and graduate student Jaylin Parker.
 
Ram Newcomers:
The Rams welcomed newcomers Lance Gill, Myles Pettis, Antonio Perkins, Camyl Witherspoon, Devon Bristow, Daylin Brandon, Tristan Davis, Tyrhe Fortney, Jahnarious Snell, Clint Wickliffe, and Imajae Dodd.
 
CIAA Preseason:
Isaac Parson was named to the All-CIAA preseason team Backcourt and Jaylen Alston was named to the All-CIAA Frontcourt team. Overall, the Rams were selected to finish fourth in the season poll and third in the Southern Division.
 
Weekly Awards
  • Jaylen Alston was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week for weeks two and three.
  • Imajae Dodd was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week for week two.
 
D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Poll
The men are ranked 9th this week in the D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Poll with wins over Bluefield State University and Clarion University last week.
 
Scouting Report
Winston-Salem State University (7-3, 1-0 CIAA). The Rams are led in scoring by Jaylen Alston with 17.1 points per game and Isaac Parson with 13.0 points. The Rams are averaging 71.0 points a game while allowing 67.4 points.
 
Bowie State (4-5, 0-1 CIAA)
The Bulldogs fell to Claflin University 82-67 on Saturday, December 2nd. Kyree Freeman-Davis led the Bulldogs with 22 points off the bench, followed by Amare Wimbush with 11 points. Kyree Freeman-Davis is the Bulldogs leading scorer averaging 12.8 points a game, followed by Caleb Johnson averaging 12.7 a game, and Mark Bradshaw averaging 11.8. The Bulldogs are scoring 71.7 points a game.
 
Lincoln University (5-6, 1-0 CIAA)
The Lions defeated Claflin University 72-62 on Monday, December 11th.  Freddy Young, Jr led the Lions with 24 points, followed by Reggie Hudson with 21 points. Freddy Young, Jr is the Lions leading scorer averaging 17 points a game, followed by Bakir Cleveland averaging 14.1points and Reggie Hudson averaging 12 points. The Lions average 77.5 points a game.
 
Up Next
The Rams will begin the new year at home hosting Elizabeth City State University, on Thursday January 4th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
