Gibson Named to D2 HBCU All-America Team, powered by BOXTOROW

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Jaylon Gibson from the Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team was named to the Second Team All-America, powered by BOXTOROW, announced Monday morning.

Gibson finished the season with 361 points scored and grabbed 181 rebounds. He also blocked 25 shots. Jaylon was named the CIAA Player of the Week for week five after scoring 25 points in the victory over Clark Atlanta. He also had 11 rebounds and shot 9-of-14 from the field.
For week 12, He was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week after blocking 1 shot and grabbing 8 rebounds (five defensive).

For week 13, Jaylon Gibson was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week after blocking four shots and grabbing eight rebounds ( four defensive) in an overtime win against St. Augustine's. Offensively, he finished with 17 points. Gibson was also named to the CIAA All-Tournament team. 
Virginia Union forward Robert Osborne has been named the HBCU has been named HBCU Division II Player of the Year. The senior from Richmond, Va. helped lead the Panthers to the CIAA Northern Division crown and an appearance in the NCAA regionals. He led the CIAA in scoring (20.2) and field goal percentage (.515) and was second in the CIAA in rebounding (8.8). His 15 double doubles led the CIAA and were tied for sixth in Division II.
 
Tuskegee head coach Benji Taylor has been named HBCU Division II Coach of the Year. In his fourth season as the head coach of the Golden Tigers, he led them to the SIAC Western Division crown. The Golden Tigers' 20-9 record was five games better than last year, and earned Tuskegee an at-large berth in the NCAA regionals.
