WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team snaps a three-game losing streak and beats Livingstone College, 65-56 inside the Lawrence Joel Coliseum on senior day.
WSSU improved to 17-9 (9-7 CIAA), while the bears moved to 11-14 (7-9 CIAA).
Jaylen Alston finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Samage Teel finished with 13, while Jaylon Gibson added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Rams led 8-5 at the first media timeout, the Blue Bears cut within the Rams lead to trail 12-11 with 9:33 to play in the first half. Livingstone took a 13-12 lead with 9:33 to play. The Rams trailed by ten, 26-16 with 3:20. 26-20 1:44 to play in the half. The Rams went into halftime trailing 28-24
A dunk from Jaylon Gibson bought the Rams within two. 16:23 tied at 28-all. The Rams led 40-36 with 11:09
The Rams took a 47-40 lead after an implosive Jaylon Gibson dunk with 7:13 to play in the game. The Rams led by ten, 56-46 with 3:36 remaining in the game. Free throws from Jaylen Alston sealed the deal and the rams won 65-56.
The Rams will be back in action at the CIAA tournament February 21-26 in Baltimore, Maryland inside the CFG Area.
