WSSU Track and Field Team Shines at Blue Bear Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University women's track and field team had a great outing at the Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational hosted by Livingstone College.

How it Happened – Track
  • The 4x100m relay team of Kamauree Randolph, Asheika Smith, Lydia Chapple and Briana Benloss finished in second place with a time of 46.60. The team of Zaniah Field, Layla Simpson, Amiyah Murray and Charnessa Reid finished in fifth place with a time of 48.36.
  • Charnessa Reid finished in first place 100mH with a school record time of 13.92. Layla Simpson finished in seventh place with a time of 15.12.
  • Brianna Benloss finished in eight place with a time of 12.09.
  • Simone Kelly captured sixth in the 400m with a time of 57.70. Elicia Bryant finished with a time of 1:00.08 (15th), Kayla Nobles finished with a time of 1:01.99 (20th) and Rainn Sheppard finished with a time of 1:02.08 (21st).
  • Tinasia Davis ran a time of 2:33.60 in the 800m to finish in 11th place.  Jaiyah Nelson ran a time of 2:36.99 to finish in 14th place.
  • Olivia Cosby finished in fifth place in the 200m with a time of 24.71. Kamauree Randolph finished in 10th place with a time of 25.31and Malaysia Gabriel finished in 21st (26.09).
  • The 4x400m relay team of Cosby, Sheppard, Bryant and Kelly captured first place with a time of 3:56.46. The 'B' squad finished with a time of 4:07.70 to capture fourth.
  • Alaina Moody finished tenth in the discus (30.12m). Nia Hester finished 21st (19.82), Maeghan Wallace 22nd (18.93m).
  • Wallace finished in eighth place in the shot put (10.62m).
  • Trinity Brooks finished in first place in the long jump (5.55m).
  • Zoe Chesson finished in second place (1.50m).
  • Brooks came in fourth place in the triple (10.88m) and Kyndall Barrow was seventh (10.42m),
  • In the javelin, Moody was 8th (23.97), Wallace was 9th (23.44), Hester was 10th (22.01) and Barrow was 11th (21.37).
The Rams will be back in action on April 4-5 at the VertKlasse Meet hosted by High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
