HICKORY, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team capture second place at the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational hosted by Lenior-Rhyne.
The Rams finished a total of 106 points right behind Lenior-Rhyne who finished with 195. Belmont Abbey came in third with 84 points.
Charnessa Reid finished with a mark of 1.60m to capture second in the high jump.
Amiyah Murray came in 11
th place in the shot put (9.94m).
Maeghan Wallace came in 13th (9.73m),
Kyndall Barrow finished 17th (8.89m) and
Alaina Moody finished 18th (7.90m).
Trinity Brooks finished in fourth place with a mark of 5.40m.
Zaniah Field was ninth (4.93m).
Jasmine Higgins was 20 with a mark of 4.56m.
Alaina Moody was 11
th in the javelin (24.92m),
Maeghan Wallace was 14
th (20.93m), and
Nia Hester was 15
th (19.97m).
Elicia Bryant came in sixth in the 1500m (4:52.53),
Rainn Sheppard was seventh (5.07.43,
Jaiyah Nelson was ninth (5:27.78), and
Kayla Nobles was 11th (5:44.45).
Trinity Brooks also captured third in the triple jump (11.05m).
Kyndall Barrow was sixth (10.46m).
In the discus throw,
Nia Hester had a mark of 19.85m,
Maeghan Wallace had a mark of 23.02m and
Alaina Moody had a mark of 36.32m.
The foursome of
Charnessa Reid,
Lydia Chapple,
Zaniah Field and
Trinity Brooks captured first in the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.02.
Charnessa Reid also captured first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.54 and
Amiyah Murray was fourth with a time of 14.94.
Asheika Smith came in second place in the 400m dash with a time of 55.48.
Daijion Lee finished in sixth with a time of 57.89.
Rainn Sheppard finished in second place in the 800m run with a time of 2:17.95.
Simone Kelly came in fifth (2:19.53), and
Elicia Bryant finished in eighth (2:19.98).
Kayla Nobles was 14th (2:31.85), and
Jaiyah Nelson was 17th (2:35.65).
In the 400m hurdles,
Tinasia Davis finished sixth with a time of 1:09.56.
Briana Benloss came in fourth place in the 200m dash (24.48), and
Olivia Cosby came in sixth (24.95). Malaysia Gabriel came in 11th (25.63),
Zaniah Field was 18th (26.60),
Kelis Miller was 25th (27.25) and
Lydia Chapple was 29th (29.54).
To end the event, the Rams (

Olivia Cosby) captured first in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:45.13.
WSSU will be back in action next weekend, April 18-19 at the 2025 Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro, North Carolina.
