Track and Field Ready for Outdoor CIAA Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team are ready to compete at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Durham, North Carolina on May 2-3.

All events will take place at Durham County Stadium.

Last Time Out
The Rams competed at the Aggie Invitational on April 18-19 and saw numerous season-bests and personal-bests set. Brianna Benloss achieved NCAA qualifying marks in both the 100m and 200m events, recording times of 11.75 and 24.02, respectively. These performances not only met national standards but also positioned her among the elite in Division II track and field. Charnessa Reid secured third place in the long jump with a leap of 5.66 meters (18'7"), a mark that ranks her second on WSSU's all-time list.
 
CIAA Weekly Awards
Charnessa Reid has earned CIAA weekly honor every week that the Rams competed. Her first week award was for Field Athlete of the Week, after that she was named Track Athlete of the Week for five weeks in a row.
 
Atlantic Rankings
The Rams have consistently been ranked in the top five of the USTFCCA weekly rankings. With the most recent ranking the Rams were ranked fourth in the Atlantic region after checkpoint five. They have had the highest CIAA ranking all season.
