Charnessa Reid from the Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team was named the Atlantic Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year, while assistant coach
Paula Salmon was named the Assistant Women's Track Coach of the Year.
Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches at the conclusion of the
2025 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colorado. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Reid, a junior from Winston-Salem State University was named Women's Track Athlete of the Year after finishing the year as a 1st Team All-American after finishing in 4th place at the DII Outdoor Championships, apart of the 2025 CIAA Outdoor Champion Team, was the 2025 CIAA Track Athlete of the Year. She won the CIAA 100H, broke the school record three times this season, was named CIAA Athlete of the Week six times, ranked #1 in the Atlantic Region and went undefeated in the 100m hurdles all season.
Coach
Paula Salmon in her first year as assistant coach at Winston-Salem, coached the Rams' sprinters and hurdlers to win five individual titles at the CIAA Championships, helping win the team title. Her athletes set program records 10 times this season as she helped coach 23 NCAA provisional performances, led by CIAA Track Athlete of the Year
