NEW YORK - The Winston-Salem State University women's indoor track and field team continued its season at the Ramapo College and HBCU Showcase at the Armory Track & Field Center.

• 60m Dash: Candace Morris (5th in finals, 7.80) and Brianna Benloss (6th, 7.80) gave strong showings in the short sprint, both advancing through prelims with competitive times.
• 60m Hurdles: Janelle Codrington placed 11th in prelims (9.43), contributing depth to the sprint hurdle events.
• 200m Dash: Ashya Smith led the team with a win in the finals, clocking 24.90 — a major standout performance for WSSU. Olivia Cosby finished 4th (25.50), adding more strong finishes in the sprint events.

Middle Distance

• 400m: Rainn Sheppard ran a 1:02.08 (15th), and Amiliana Simmons posted 1:03.02 (21st).
• 800m: Leigh Wills placed 11th with a time of 2:28.08.
• One Mile: Elicia Bryant ran 5:27.95 for 9th, and Ava Millner finished 13th (5:38.88), showcasing solid early-season endurance efforts.

Relays

• 4×400m Relay: The WSSU quartet posted 2nd place with 4:04.08, a strong team performance showing relay strength and competitive depth.

Field Events

• Long Jump: Lanyjah Gunter won the event with a leap of 18-3.29, a major individual highlight for the team. Trinity Brooks added a 6th-place finish (16-6.43).
• Shot Put: Leila Henderson took 1st place with a throw of 42-2.69, another top-spot performance. Kaylee Thomas finished 7th (36-2.65).
• Weight Throw: Jazmin Terry placed 7th (36-10.91).

WSSU will be back in action on Sunday, January 25 at the ASICS Superblast Invitational at JDL in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
