Campbell, Cooke and Reed to Participate in the HBCU All-Star Game

Winston-Salem, N.C.- Three players from the Winston-Salem State Basketball team were selected to play in the inaugural Carolina HBCU All-Star Basketball Game presented by Champion, which will take place on Saturday, April 23, at the Greensboro Coliseum. Senior guard Javonte Cooke will be accompanied by his All-CIAA Backcourt teammate and Senior guard Cameron Campbell as well as teammate Senior forward Alexander Reed.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, senior Javonte Cooke played guard for the Rams in 23 games, averaging 16.6 points, and 3.6 rebounds a game. Cooke scored 1,220 points during his career. Cooke was selected HBCU Player of the Week and CIAA Player of the Week at least once this season as well as BOXTOROW National Player of the Week. He also was named to the All-CIAA Backcourt Team and CIAA All-Tournament Team. Cooke had the privilege of being invited and competing in the inaugural HBCU All-Star Basketball game featuring the top HBCU basketball players in the nation.

A senior from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cameron Campbell was named to the All-CIAA Backcourt Team. He played in every game for the Rams averaging 11.8 points, 9.8 in field goal attempts, 4.3 in field goals made, .437 in field-goal percentage, .340 in three-point field goal percentage, 1.1 in three-point field goals made, averages 3.7 rebounds per game, 0.6 steals per game. Campbell was named HBCU Men's Player of the week recipient at least once this season and second on the team in points with 201, finished the season 15th in scoring in the CIAA (12.2).

A senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, Alexander Reed is 1 out of the 6 Forwards selected to suit up for the Carolina's HBCU All-Star Game on Team Culture. Reed played in 20 games for the Rams, starting in two competitions. Reed averaged 44.1 field goal percentage and finished 20th in rebounding in the CIAA with (3.5 RPG).

Sixteen senior student-athletes were nominated from North and South Carolina to make up "Team Culture" and "Team Legacy" by a Carolina ASG committee. The inaugural game is an initiative to highlight what Historically Black Colleges & Universities mean to the fabric of both North and South Carolina. All three of the Rams players will play for "Team Culture". 

Fans also can tune into the Spectrum News interview featuring Senior Guard Cameron Campbell airing tomorrow April 22nd, at 5 pm ahead of this weekend's festivities.
