Enshrined into the WSSU C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame as a team, the 1953 CIAA Championship team won both the regular season CIAA title and the CIAA tournament en route to making a clean sweep of the conference titles.  The Rams played in 31 games en route to posting a 26-5 overall record.  The Rams posted a 15-4 CIAA record in the regular season as Willis Johnson led WSSU with 16.2 points per game.
