Winston-Salem State University

Enshrined into the WSSU C.E. "Big House" Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball, he is presently the Director of Recreation and Parks for the City of Winston-Salem. He was a Health and Physical Education major at WSSU, graduating in 1980 with a minor in Psychology. He was a four-year basketball player, earned Dean’s List honors from 1977-1980, and served as president of Brown Hall from 1979-1980. 

His professional and personal accomplishments include Director, Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks Department (2003-Present); Assistant Head Coach for Men's Basketball (1981-1993); Assistant Athletic Director (1981-1992); 1999 & 2000 City of Winston-Salem Employee of the Year - Staff Support; 1996 Helping Hands Award by the Winston-Salem Ministers Conference; 1993 American Red Cross 10 Year Award. His service in the community includes:  Leadership Winston-Salem (Executive Board Member); Big House Gaines Scholarship Foundation (Board Member); WSSU Center for Community Safety (Executive Board). Coach Grant also is in the Hall of Fame as a coach of the 1984-86 softball team.
