Enshrined into the WSSU C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame for football, Everett “Doc” Payne was a four-year letterman for the Rams’ football team.  A 1963-64 All-CIAA football selection, Payne was honored as a 1964 All-American.  A 1964 graduate of WSSU with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education, Payne was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
