The 1959-60 Winston-Salem Teacher’s College Rams track & field teams was the best in the nation as they took home the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Under the guidance of legendary head coach Wilbur Ross, the Rams took home the national titles in both seasons.

The teams included seven individual national champions and five NAIA All-Americans. Among the team members was C.E. “Big House” Gaines Hall of Fame inductee Elias Gilbert, who won the men’s 120-Yard High Hurdles (14.6) and the 440-Yard Hurdles (53.6).  Rams triple jumper Godfrey Moore also took home national titles in both seasons. He jumped 48’2.5” to win in 1959 and 47’5” to win in 1960.
