Wilbur Ross is inducted into the WSSU C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding expertise in coaching.  Ross remains the greatest coach in the history of Winston-Salem State University (at that time Winston-Salem Teachers College) track and field.  Ross led the Rams to back-to-back NAIA National Championships in 1959 and 1960 and coached eight WSSU student-athletes who would go on to stardom and enshrinement in the C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame.  Ross coached 11 All-America selections while at WSSU and helped to produce seven individual national champions.   Ross, an innovator known as a coach who helped to develop champions, he authored a definitive work on hurdling, The Hurdlers Bible in 1966.
