Paul R. Hayes was inducted into the C.E. "Big House" Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2012. Hayes was an All-CIAA selection at centerfield in baseball for the WSSU Rams during the 1956 and 1957 seasons.

He earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Studies - Elementary Education.  He is employed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Industry Newark Comprehensive Employment and Training Act.  He is married to Hattie M. Hayes and they are the parents of adult children, Paul, Jr, Shanna and the late Tione.
